MCZ for AI assistants

Let your AI assistant do the archiving

Ask Claude, or any assistant that speaks MCP, to back up, check and send your files with MCZ. Start as many jobs as you like: MCZ runs them in turn so they never trip over each other.

Your assistant drives MCZ

It can compress, extract, verify, find files in one by name and send archives to other PCs. Progress shows while it works, and the MCP tab in the app lists every call it makes.

Many jobs, no traffic jams

When assistants, scripts and people all start jobs at once, the MCZ job server runs them in turn, so they don't fight over the processor, the network or the same drive. Jobs start in the order they were asked for, and the app shows a job's place in the queue while it waits.

You stay in charge

The job queue page (http://127.0.0.1:48631/, or on Windows opened from MCZ Activity) shows what's running, what's waiting and everything that has finished. Move a job to the front or cancel it with one click.

The MCZ Activity icon in the notification area shows the MCZ jobs running, their progress and the queue in real time.

Connect MCZ to Claude

Claude Code or Claude Desktop

When you install MCZ, tick MCP server for AI assistants. Already installed? Open MCZ, go to the MCP tab and press Install for me and register.
Restart Claude Code or Claude Desktop. MCZ's tools are there the next time you start a conversation.

Windows (Command Prompt), with the MCP server installed for you as above:

Linux: claude mcp add --scope user mcz -- /path/to/mcz-mcp.

On the MCP tab press Copy config snippet and paste it into your client's MCP settings.

Things to ask

Back up D:\Projects to F:\Backups with MCZ, one archive per project folder.
Verify every archive in F:\Backups and tell me if any are damaged.
Which .uasset files are in F:\Backups\Lyra.mcz?
Extract F:\Backups\Lyra.mcz into D:\Restore.
Send F:\Backups\Report.mcz to OFFICE-PC.
What is MCZ busy with right now?

Compressing, extracting, verifying and listing through an assistant always work, and so do showing the licence and Machine ID, installing a key, the MCZ version and what MCZ is busy with (mcz_compress, mcz_extract, mcz_verify, mcz_list, mcz_license, mcz_version, mcz_activity). Sending to other PCs, the job server and the assistant's other tools are premium features: free for 30 days on each computer, then a one-off key.
